We’re delighted New Zealanders can look forward to this level of free-to-air coverage – it’s a game-changer for the sport in this country
Super Smash TVNZ will be NZC’s exclusive domestic broadcaster for the next three seasons. This deal includes all of New Zealand’s men’s and women’s international matches as well as the SuperSmash games.
TVNZ is going to be the only broadcaster for all of New Zealand’s international matches and the SuperSmash from now on. This is because Spark TV, which used to be the only provider of these kinds of sports programming, has decided to stop doing so.

Beginning in July of next year, Spark Sport and TVNZ will air cricket matches live together. In addition, these matches will be streamed on TVNZ+. Whisper, the production company, will continue to produce the matches for broadcast.
The release also said that the value of NZC’s media rights package has not changed.
Spark Sport has helped make sports in New Zealand more competitive by introducing competition to the market, increasing the amount of cricket produced for broadcast, and using innovative technology.
Despite the disappointment of Spark Sport, this is a good outcome for cricket in New Zealand. This protects the professional game, safeguards the community game, and provides unprecedented access for Kiwi cricket fans.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has a new six-year contract with Spark Sport to show all home cricket matches. This replaces their previous agreement with Sky, which has been in place since 1995. Spark Sport will also show a small amount of cricket on TVNZ.
